Busy time for Disley Mountain Rescue Volunteer

Disley man Nick Shepherd, who has been a voluntary member of Kinder Mountain Rescue team for 5 years, has had a very busy couple of weeks during the recent freezing and snowy weather. Disley gets £30,000 grant for Arnold Rhodes Play Area

Disley Parish Council were delighted to be informed that their application to WREN for funding to regenerate the Arnold Rhodes Play Area has been successful. This means that with match funding from the Parish Council the work should start in early Spring.

Surprise present for Disley Friends of Cancer Research UK

Cllr. Diane Guy, secretary of Disley Friends of Cancer Research UK was presented with a donation of £279.85 by Jane Hulme of the Ram’s Head, Disley.

Jane raised the money by serving delicious hot mulled wine in the Ram’s Head on the evening of the Christmas Tree Lights switch on in Disley and people were invited to make a donation.

Disley Cricket Club celebrate their most successful season

2009 proved to be the best season ever for the village’s cricket club with the firsts ending the season as Cheshire Alliance Division 1 Champions and Senior Cup winners, beating  Haslington from the South of the county in a thrilling and tense final. The photograph shows the individual club trophy winners at their recent presentation night at their HQs at Disley Amalgamated Sports Club.

Disley awarded Quality Parish Council status

Disley Parish Council has been awarded Quality Parish Council status by the National Association of Local Councils.

The accrediation panel commended Disley on both its application portfolio and “the vibrancy and enthusiasm which is apparent in the work of the Council within its community”.
