Disley Cricket Club celebrate their most successful season

2009 proved to be the best season ever for the village’s cricket club with the firsts ending the season as Cheshire Alliance Division 1 Champions and Senior Cup winners, beating  Haslington from the South of the county in a thrilling and tense final. The photograph shows the individual club trophy winners at their recent presentation night at their HQs at Disley Amalgamated Sports Club.

The Club will now be promoted, along with local teams Woodford and Romiley from the  Derbyshire and Cheshire League to the Meller  Braggins Cheshire Cricket League which is the next   level in the county’s  pyramid structure.

As well as the senior successes the club’s under 13 team came second in the regional zone of the Cheshire County league earning the right to play the likes of Chester Broughton Hall, Congleton and Northwich in the second half of the season.   The Club also runs under 9s, 11s and 15s teams in the Cheshire County League and also hope to enter junior teams in the local High Peak League in 2010.
