The ‘Biking Belles’ from Disley A.K.A. Andrea Wellings, Anita Palmer, Dawn McDonald, and Paula Whittaker cycled 140 miles coast to coast over 3 days during the May Day bank holiday (30 April to 2nd May) to raise money for charity. They started the challenge in Whitehaven, pedalling through the Lake District, over the North Pennines and finishing at Tynemouth. They have managed to raise over £2000 so far for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. The charity was chosen as 4 year old Oliver Diaz-Mills grandson of Ann & John Mills of Freshfields who has leukaemia and needs a bone marrow transplant to survive.
