On Saturday 7th August 2010 ex Royal Navy seaman Bernard Goodwin celebrated his 85th birthday party in the White Horse. . Twenty seven of his friends sat down for a meal with wine, all paid for by Bernard. His only request was that everyone donated £5 per head to his chosen charity, Help for Heroes. A good night was had by all and £372.54 was raised for Help for Heroes.
