The website also features a wealth of multi-media content, including image galleries allowing site visitors to preview their routes, guided tours that can be downloaded to MP3 players and video clips.
The Disley Parish Plan was launched at a public open day held on Saturday 8th January 2011 at Disley Community Centre. The launch of the Parish Plan is the culmination of many months work by the four Working Groups which were set up to address village issues concerning Community, Environment, Transport & Traffic and Children & Young People.
The results of a survey delivered to every household in Disley were used as the basis for the recommendations contained in the Plan and the next stage of the process is to endeavour to turn the proposed action plans into reality.

The Disley PRIDE group has been awarded the ‘Little Gem’ award by Cheshire Community Action for its Woddland Garden Project at St. Mary’s Church.
A triangle of land adjacent to St.Mary’s Church in Disley had become completely overgrown with brambles and nettles. Cheshire County Council announced in 2008 that this would be Cheshire Year of the Garden and the Disley Pride group were granted £250 for making the area into a woodland garden.
When work commenced it was found that soil on the site was solid clay, the brambles had to be ‘grubbed out’ and there were serious drainage problems. Lyme Park’s estates department came to the rescue for the drainage by laying a new pipe and repairing a drain supplying the well. Stonework surrounding the well (which once supplied water to Disley Fountain) was restored by a volunteer. Pride funded more cash for strimming the area and removing some dead trees and shrubs and then work commenced on planting. A request was then made for donations and over 50 people have given a tree or shrub or bulbs in memory of a loved one.
These dedications will be written in a special book in St.Mary’s and everyone will be given a plan of the site showing the trees and shrubs planted with a numbered tag.
A beautiful teak seat has been made by Stockport probation team and has been donated by Jane Rogers in memory of her parents John and Joan Turner.
Pride is very grateful to everyone who has played a part in this ambitious project and hope that Disley’s Little Gem will give pleasure for many years.

This picture (please click link above) was sent to Disley Parish Parish Council by James Fox who used to live at 98 Buxton Old Road. He has lived in Australia since 1970 but still keeps up to date with what’s happening in Disley and he has asked if anyone can put names to the faces in this Disley School picture from 1970.
James would be delighted to hear from anyone who may remember him or can give him details of his classmates. He can be contacted on arcelia@optusnet.com.au
